Garden Wonders: A Guidebook for Little Green Thumbs
There are so many beautiful and delicious plants to grow in your garden. There are annuals (plants you plant every year, which last for a season or two, like sunflowers), perennials (plants that continue to bloom and grow every year, like hollyhock), and biennials (plants that take two years to bloom, like foxglove).
There are water plants (water lilies and irises), shrubs and trees, spring bulbs (daffodils and tulips), and succulents (like cacti).
Garden Wonders: A Guidebook for Little Green Thumbs takes young children through the basics of gardens and gardening and how to create their own garden, no matter the amount of space they have.
The descriptive text and illustrations provide useful information for young readers as they go through the gardening process. The text is simple but very descriptive and can be read to or read by a young reader. While there are some words in the text that may be unfamiliar to young readers, there are also explanations when needed, either in the text or in the illustrations.
The illustrations provide a vibrant visual guide to the magic of gardens and gardening, telling the reader almost as much through the illustrations as through the text. The illustrations will take readers through the process of planting a plant, show readers the different pollinators and pests that can be found in a garden, and showcase different types of plants.
Garden Wonders is part of Sarah Grindler’s “Little Explorers Series” which teaches young readers about the wonders of the world around them. Garden Wonders is a lively introduction to gardens and gardening for young readers.
