This scholarly text is a compilation of essays prepared as a tribute to the works of J. E. Hodgett who wrote numerous articles on a wide variety of topics related to public administration in Canada. A list of his works is contained in the bibliography. Each chapter in this book is prepared by a different author, and the general aim is to discuss a problem in the Canadian administrative scene. Included, among others, are regulatory agencies and the dilemmas of delegations, holding public servants accountable, the right of public access to official documents, and administering the un-administrable?: the case of atomic energy. Each author sets out the existing administrative structure of the body concerned and attempts to analyse the effectiveness and problems either real or perceived relating to it. Each chapter has footnotes for anyone wanting to research any referenced point. This is a university level text designed for use in the consideration of Canadian administrative studies.
