In this bizarre and unappealing tale based on an operetta, The Miseries, a group of glum Canadians under the spell of the Wizard of Woe meet the Motto, a boy dressed in a T-shirt labelled "From Sea to Sea." Motto and the Children of Canada then get the Canada Goose to break the spell. The heavy-handed message is accompanied by such dreadful verses as

I'm not ashamed to say out loud,
That being a Canadian makes me
         proud!
I'm not ashamed to let you see
That I am a Canadian. Look at me.
Look at me! I'm a Canadian
Joined to a Canadian, here I stand!
Look at me! I'm a Canadian!
Joined to all Canadians across the land!

Coloured illustrations by Laurie McGaw depict caricatured characters in this piece of nationalistic didactism.
