DISCOVERING CANADA, BOOK 1
Ronald C. Kirbyson, Peter L. McCreath and Alan Skeoch.
Volume 10 Number 4.
This text is well-written, clearly understandable, and the information is well-supplemented and documented with pictures, maps, charts, and sketches. Canada's history is covered from the earliest Indians to Confederation. There are excellent feature articles in each chapter that explain a fact or question. One example is, "How did Wolfe find the track to the Plains of Abraham?" There is enough information in this book to span more than one year of study, if desired. The vocabulary is controlled, and an excellent glossary of terms is at the back. The authors have indeed attempted to write about Canada's history so as to help elementary school children to understand their roots. Highly recommended.
