Volume 10 Number 4. 1982 November. This is the second adventure of Harold Greenhouse and his friend Woodsey. In The Unwanted Adventure of Harold Greenhouse,* the two boys capture two criminals who kidnap them and take them to Venezuela. In this episode, the escaped criminals kidnap the boys' parents and take them off to Greenland. Reluctantly, Harold leaves an absorbing experiment on the life cycle of petunias and sets off, with Woodsey, to rescue the adults and apprehend their captors. The character of the two young detectives is an obvious parody of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Harold is an intellectual. He whiles away the time, while skiing across the frozen tundra, by reciting the titles of the books in the biology section of the public library and by reflecting on current problems in world politics. He makes brilliant deductions. The unassuming Woodsey, on the other hand, is more concerned with how his parents will manage without their servants. The fast-paced and hilarious story will appeal to young readers. It is not great literature, but it is great fun. The cartoons by Roy Condy are amusing, colourful, and appropriate.
