This book is intended for teachers, parents, and anyone else who works with handicapped preschoolers. In it, a wide variety of motor abilities are considered such as balance, locomotion, catching, throwing, and soon. Large numbers of activities and games designed to strengthen motor skill are described in detail in each chapter. A great strength of the book is that it provides ample reference to the research literature to give the reader the rationale supporting the general approach. As an added bonus, a few persistent myths regarding handicapped youngsters fall by the wayside.

There are other useful features of this book that are worth mentioning. For example, the final chapter describes the "Movement Patterns Achievement Profile," an instrument designed to assess the motor development of both handicapped and able-bodied children up to age six. Also, an appendix is included that lists the names and addresses of Canadian and American companies that supply some of the specialized materials and equipment referred to in the text.

The production quality of the book is adequate. It is large, (8½ x 11 inch), and heavily illustrated with both drawings and photographs. For its intended audience, this handbook will be a useful and well used publication. Only the price might give one pause.
