Be professional! are the two points stressed by Bramson whose stated aim is "to develop habits and techniques that will prevent the real emergency and all the risks it entails from arising." Each of the twelve chapters is crammed with practical flying information and tips for the novice as well as experienced pilots who may become complacent in their accomplishments. Such topics as preparation before a flight, instrument flying, crosswind take-off and landing, avoiding weather-induced accidents, safety with two engines, how to cope when the engine quits, and basic handling faults are covered in a straightforward, easy-to-read manner. Clear two-colour diagrams and pictures illustrate various aviation techniques. An index is included. Bramson, an accomplished pilot, chairman of the Panel of Examiners in the U.K., and author of note (Flight Briefing for Pilots, six volumes, and articles in aviation magazines), does not include the specialized requirements of a Canadian Pilots' License or the two classes of Canadian Instrument Ratings.
