A fascinating little book about scores of beautiful and historic vacation spots. The introduction states that "much of Canada's history has been preserved in her architecture" and a reading of this book is ample proof. Everything from log houses, ranches, chateaux, mansions of all periods, fishing lodges, white clapboard houses, stone mills, farmhouses, to restored inns have become out of the way, quiet, relaxed, friendly hostelries. Most of them are family operations and boast of great home-cooked meals. Some of the hotels are the large and famous, like the Banff Springs and Le Chateau Montebello, and others of this ilk across Canada. The strength of the book lies in its wealth of small, secluded places to go. If anyone in your hearing complains of nowhere to go for holidays, this book is the answer; there is literally something for every taste, and particularly for anyone interested in the history and architecture of Canada.
