Lesley Parsonson.
Volume 11 Number 1.
Lesley Parsonson's Fitness Fun provides a common-sense approach to fitness. Total fitness is a way of life, to be experienced by the entire family, with variety as the motivating force and key factor. Parsonson's active life is an inspiration to all of us who wish to be more fit. Her activities include ownership of a health club, instructing fitness classes, hosting two television shows, and contributing to two regular newspaper columns. Simply written, with easy-to-read type, Fitness Fun covers warm-up, indoor, outdoor, and aqua exercises. All are effectively demonstrated in the black-and-white photographs. Other areas discussed are running, equipment, skin care, and exercise while travelling. Diet and nutrition are dealt with in a separate section with accompanying charts on calorie counts, servings, energy expenditures, etc. Recipes can also be found. Geared primarily towards the woman with little time, fitness for the family and senior citizen is also covered, as well as exercises for expectant mothers. Although more appealing to the adult, this book will benefit the teenager who reads it. An index allows the reader to locate specific areas of interest. The book's handy size makes it ideal for slipping into a suitcase or tote bag. Recommended for public and school libraries.
