BUILDING FOR TOMORROW: CANADA IN THE 1950S
AID International, n.d..
Volume 11 Number 4.
This material presents a multi-faceted view of Canada and its relationships with the United States and other nations. Political, economic, social, and cultural events are chronicled in detail. Some sequential details are presented, but there is some back-tracking as each filmstrip progresses and some repetitiveness when compared to the other kit, Canada in the 1960s. Examples are repeated visuals and the accompanying narration. The film-strips and tapes are quite lengthy and would be useful for grades 9 and 10 history courses as supplemental materials. One drawback to the kit is that it is sometimes difficult to keep track of which frame goes with the sound as the frames are unnumbered. A program guide is provided, but it is not a manual, and, while adequate for general coverage, it does not link specifically to a frame-by-frame narration. Recommended.
