A stranger having read Bronwen Wallace's poetry must be forgiven for presuming a familiarity with the talented poet, for through her work the reader is admitted to a communion of mind and spirit few people are capable of sharing even with their closest intimates. It is a rare gift, this ability to capture the essence of the ordinary, the everyday, the commonplace, and to distil from them the universal experiences of childhood, love and marriage, separation, life and death. What more can be shared than these? Wallace's powerful poems, many of which have previously appeared elsewhere in various literary magazines and journals, are a memorable collection, handsomely produced. Recommended.
