THE GIRLS OF THE KING'S NAVY
Rosamond "Fiddy" Greer.
Victoria, Sono Nis Press, c1983.
Volume 12 Number 2
The author volunteered for duty in the Wrens at eighteen in June 1943 and trained in Gait, Ontario and in Halifax. Her memories of life in training and adventures with other young girls in uniform are well-written and give us an idea of what life was like for young people during the war years. This interesting account of personal experiences and reminiscences of the Navy in the war 1939-45 is of limited value in a school. Women who served in the WRCNS during the war or their relatives would find it interesting so it would be a more useful purchase for a public library. Jean Keenan,Leaside H. S., Toronto, ON. |
