MUSIC BUILDERS IV
Berandol Music, 1983.
Volume 12 Number 3
This program written by two music consultants would be sufficient for one year's music instruction at the grade 4 level; it grew out of the authors' classroom experiences. Listening material ranges from modern electronic to baroque. Vocals are done by a group of nine-to-twelve-year-olds. The manual is exhaustive, providing activities for both small and large groups which explore melody, rhythm, harmony, style, and form. Provision is made to develop skills of singing, listening, movement, creativity, and visualization. This program could be of value to a beginning teacher or one with minimal musical background, but the experienced teacher will also find it useful as a supplement or as a source of new ideas.
