MATHWAYS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD

Volume 12 Number 3
The Mathways for Early Childhood resource book has been developed to assist teachers with the study and teaching of mathematics at the pre-school and Kindergarten levels. This sturdy spiial-bound book abounds with a wide variety of interesting concept related activities, which are frequently integrated with other subject areas. Blackline program masters, photographs, and illustrations support the text and help clarify directions. The program is divided into three units, each of which has been further subdivided into four main areas: problem solving, number, measurement, and geometry. The lessons, which are sequenced developmentally, include several suggested and supplementary extension activities designed to accommodate individual students needs and interests. Each lesson also contains a list of materials necessary to support the "hands-on" approach of this mathematics program. The clearly-organized Mathematics for Early Childhood resource book should appeal to both beginning and experienced teachers as it offers new and refreshing ideas for presenting mathematics to young children.
