AMAZING TRIVIA FROM THE WORLD OF BASEBALL
Shirley Fischler and Stan Fischler.

Volume 12 Number 5
Stan Fischler is billed as "North America's most prolific author of sports books." This book, his sixtieth, goes a long way towards proving that quantity and quality do not necessarily go hand in hand. A collection of supposedly "fascinating inside stories from the annals of baseball legends," the level here is very Technology uneven. Offbeat, unusual items such as the dead man who scored a run and the player who attempted to catch a ball dropped from a blimp are quite entertaining. The number of original Toronto Blue Jays still with the club at the end of the 1983 season is merely tedious fill. There are enough unusual anecdotes from baseball history here to give this book appeal for the ardent baseball fan. The fact that it has no index and no apparent organization give it little value as a reference tool. John Mitchell, Centennial C. V. I., Guelph, ON. |
