HOW TO WRITE A BEST SELLER
Richard Rohmer.
Toronto, McClelland and Stewart, c1984.
Volume 12 Number 6
Who could qualify to give information better than Richard Rohmer with his habit of producing best sellers both in fiction and non-fiction? The small book is written with confidence and clarity; confidence that one who aims high and is not afraid of hard work and long hours of research could write a best seller. In progressive steps from preparation to publishing, the author takes his reader through the discipline of writing, drawing from his own experiences and those of other eminent writers. Specific directions are set out in note form for re-writing, investing in an editor and an agent. Practical advice follows on contracts and the ways of publishers. Even if readers feel they will never put out a best seller, they will have certainly gained knowledge and confidence to continue after reading Rohmer's book that is sure to have ten thousand or more interested readers. Recommended to all apprentice authors. Phyllis James, Qualicum Beach, BC. |
