MENTAL GYMNASTICS FOR TRIVIA FREAKS AND PUZZLE NUTS
Ken Weber
Toronto, Methuen, c1984.
Volume 12 Number 6
Ken Weber is best known for his books on thinking skills and games. Mental Gymnastics is his first not-so-serious book. It is recommended for trivia and puzzle freaks. It will also be a useful addition for teachers in senior elementary and high school and will most definitely be a conversation and ice breaker at social functions. Some puzzles are quizzes dealing with famous persons. Others are language or mathematical tasks. For mental and humorous relief, puns and graffiti are dispersed throughout the book. Mystery fans will delight in solving the mini mysteries. The skills are mentally taxing and certainly exercise the brain. They are best suited for a senior student or adult and are varied in task and presentation. The layout of the book is also appealing. Bold graphics are used for headlines. Each puzzle is printed in clear large print well spaced on the page. The answers are at the back. Anabelle Goodman, Deer Park P. S., Toronto, ON. |
