Ritchie spent over fifteen years doing field and laboratory research in the Northwest, and he has produced a lot of information including maps, charts, graphs, and plates. This book was written for students and scholars of Quaternary science in botany, paleontology, climatology, geology, archaeology, and pedology. It contributes to the understanding of past and present Canadian northern environments.
