A Duncan Macpherson cartoon accompanies each of nine groups of articles, arranged chronologically. Lautens won the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour in 1981 and 1984; Macpherson has previously published collections of his cartoons from the Toronto Star. The combination of their talents in this book produces a witty, and at times incisive, retrospective of Canadian politics in the Trudeau era. Lautens reveals a warm appreciation of both the politicians who are his ostensible targets and Canadian attitudes toward the political process.
