New France and War, one of about twenty titles in the series, takes a serious look at the development of New France from 1608 to 1763. The major emphasis is on the effect the various wars had on the growth of the area. The reader is encouraged to examine the internal conflicts between the various Indian tribes and between the Indians and the settlers, and also the effect of world events on the economic, cultural and social development of New France. The text is arranged so that the reader is able to follow events in several parts of the world simultaneously. Numerous reproductions, drawings, maps and paintings support the facts presented. The student is treated to brief biographical sketches of important people discussed in the text, a glossary of terms used, an annotated bibliography for additional research, plus discussion questions arranged by chapters for classroom use.
