Want to expand your positive-thinking jargon? Author Jack H. McQuaig compares synergy to a chemical reaction: "Chemicals, when mixed together, activate one another." He applies this phenomenon to people's lives, and concludes that "the more projects you are involved in, the more each thrives from the influence of others." McQuaig formulated his ideas while working as a consulting psychologist and suggests that the secret of success is being active in many fields of endeavour. He advises: "keep searching and stretching for things that will bring you satisfaction in life." He measures success by career attainment and fulfilment, as well as by the ability to relax, enjoy life, and be happy, and he maintains that success is due more to having the right attitudes than to working hard. Chapter by chapter, the author leads you through his theories on attitudes, motivation, action and relaxation in a simple style of writing suitable for young adult readers who are interested in these concepts. No attempt is made to substantiate his theories. One section, entitled "Stability and Maturity," provides an excellent base for self-inventory. Synergism is a clear, quick formula for success, according to McQuaig, Toronto businessman, lecturer, and author.
