Kevin Marshall Elliot was afraid of the alligator that lived under his bed. He knew that the alligator was lying in wait, ready to bite his hands and feet, and he leapt into bed to avoid exposing his extremeties. Kevin's mother is not very sympathetic, but when Kevin's baby sister crawls under his bed, he rescues her and discovers that the alligator is more afraid of him than he is afraid of it. The illustrations in this gentle story are grey, with touches of green, and show Kevin and his family engaged in everyday activities. This simple story about children's fears will be useful in libraries.
