This textbook, a revised version of a book that was originally written in French for Acadian students, has been placed on the approved list of textbooks for schools in Nova Scotia. It is a brief outline for junior high students of the organization and work of Nova Scotian government at the municipal and provincial levels. The introduction relates government to student experience by discussing the role of a school's student council as government. The book is enhanced by numerous photographs, charts, and maps; layout is clear and attractive. The detailed table of contents permits easy access to the information. There is a glossary and an extensive bibliography of materials for both students and teachers. Suggested activities at the end of each section will be useful in the classroom setting. Recommended for purchase by all high school and public libraries in Nova Scotia. It will also be a useful addition to the political science section of libraries in other provinces.
