The cheerful illustrations by Jean Claverie are executed in warm muted tones, with humorous details for those who read the headlines on the newspapers and the titles on the books pictured there. This pop-up book is a wonderful choice for the very young (and old) who delight in the game of peekaboo. A few simple questions are the only text that accompanies the illustrations, as Mom, Dad Jack-in-the-box, dog, and baby pop up to shout "peekaboo." The pop-ups work well, seem sturdy, and the pages are thicker than the usual picture book standard. The more I looked at this book, the more I liked it. Highly recommended. Dale Simmons, Ottawa, Ont.
