CIP Grades 11 and up Reviewed by Marion Mintis Volume 14 Number 3 1986 May Erin Mouré writes that "What identity is, has been overworked/in these pages," but she is wrong. In Domestic Fuel, Mouré takes the reader on a cross-Canada trip, back and forth in time, asking about "The women who babysat me in the 1960's,/l wonder who they are/with their bright nails. . .," and telling us about her brother who "is in Toronto on the top floor of/a house, going to school." She writes of "My husband who is not my husband/holding our divorce up/like a key." The poems revolve around her family and her friends, love, Canada, and her writing. The tone is optimistic, the mood both playful and nostalgic; the result, a brilliant and lively book of poetry, one of the best I have read in a long time.
