For many people, finding a job can be a frustrating experience. Janis Foord, a career planning consultant, maintains that to be successful, a person must analyse personal needs and abilities, be aware of the complexities of the job market, and carefully develop a career action plan. In her book exercises, check lists and short case studies are used to establish realistic goals that are compatable with one's personality. Attention is paid to a job seeker's physical condition, along with the customary advice about good grooming and proper dress.

This well-organized guide book is a good resource for secondary school students and other first-time job seekers. As well, the practical and specific strategies on finding the right job and handling the interview are a helpful review for job holders seeking advancement or a change of career. The layout is visually appealing, and the plentiful use of subheadings makes specific information easy to locate and encourages browsing. A brief bibliography is included.
