Russell shows us the life and ways of an animal much misunderstood and feared by humans, largely due to published accounts of unusual encounters. From this volume we can put into perspective the bear's habits, his antics, his food, his life cycle, against vivid descriptions of his normal habitat and range. Largely due to the impact of the original and of other naturalists' strong pleas for man's restraint in his predatory activities against wild creatures, this present release may have less effect nowadays. Among natural history buffs, Andy Russell is a must.
