The star of this tale is a precocious four-year-old from Nipigon, Ontario. The year is 1994. Readers suspend reality. Think non-sexist, non-ageist, non-didactic. Jany makes history. First she shoots a pea into her father's mouth, shouting, “She scores.” This episode catapults her into hockey fame, from the NHL to the key scorer in the World Cup series against the Soviets. (1,001 to 4). Thus, she establishes her notoriety. Not too soon, for the reviewer. Readers must struggle with a pedantic, wordy text chronicling the obnoxious child's unbelievable and humourless rise to fame. She remains flat on the pages of this flimsy, poorly illustrated paperback.
