Designed as an educational tool, it presents basic information about birds such as diet, nests, camouflage, habitat, migration, and more. In the process of learning interesting facts about birds, the child will have fun with an interesting range of activities. The author has provided numerous pencil crayon types of seat work, such as a crossword, maze, dot to dot, matching, drawing, and colouring. Also included are directions for making simple bird feeders, origami birds, and a mobile. Adult participation is encouraged, particularly with the younger child. This book lends itself to further discussion and follow-ups, such as bird watching and gathering more information on birds from your local library. Bonnie Gordon has provided parents, teachers, and children with an excellent activity book. The illustrations, some of which are coloured, are simple and appealing. The Canadian content is also worth noting. The book is printed on quality paper and when completed can serve as a home reference book.
