Volume 15 Number 4 1987 July Log Jam is set in the foothills of the Alberta Rockies. There are two strands to the story. The first concerns Lenora Rydz and her mother who go camping with their new instant family - a stepfather and two teen-age boys. The ladies are made to feel left out and unwanted in his previously all-male activity. The second strand is about Isaac Manyfeathers, a young native, who escapes from a low-security prison workgang and makes his way through the forest to his childhood home. How the two strands of the story come together and how Lenora and Isaac come to resolve their problems make this book exciting and interesting. There are excellent descriptive passages, exciting adventures, and realistic human conflicts to keep the reader turning the pages.
