THE MOONS OF MADELEINE
Joan Clark.
Volume 15 Number 4
When Madeleine (Mad) visits her 'best friend' cousin Selena in Calgary, she finds a stranger in outlandish clothes, ghastly make-up, and green streaked hair, who has a belligerent attitude toward her mother and life in general. Devastated by Selena's antics, Mad secretly plans to return home, but the mysterious moon mask, brought as a gift to her aunt, and her insatiable appetite for Greek mythology transport her to the Moon World and the secret society of Greek priestesses. There she is charged with the responsibility of finding and preserving the Sacred Stones that lead her to the cave of the First Woman and the secrets of life. These secrets not only help the Moon People, but also Mad's critically ill grandmother. Communication appears to be the underlying theme, as well as the key to the significant growth and development of the characters throughout this fastmoving, modern-day story that will grab the imagination of the teen-age reader.Janet E.
