Readers in upper elementary and junior grades who enjoyed Here She Is, Ms Teeny Wonderful (Scholastic-TAB. 1984) will like this second book in the series. They will again find a humorous, exciting plot and funny, realistic characters who speak in an idiom they can appreciate. Carol Weatherspoon, runner-up in the Ms Teeny Wonderful contest, is called upon to act as honorary Ms Teeny Wonderful. The magazine that sponsored the pageant hopes to secure an advertising account with the top cosmetics company in the world. Their success in closing the deal seems to be dependent on Carol's ability to teach the president's eight-year-old son to jump his BMX over barrels. Carol's assignment is complicated by the fact that E. Z. Putton, Jr., is a spoiled, stubborn risk-taker. Her best friend Wally, who accompanies her on the trip, adds to her difficulties by beginning to display an interest in other girls. In addition, Carol is bothered by her own changing outlook and feelings. After a suspenseful incident in which E.Z., Jr., attempts a hazardous jump over a canyon, Carol and Wally find themselves heroes and more than friends. Both boys and girls will enjoy this novel.
