Adult Reviewed by Frank Loreto Volume 16 Number 4 1988 July Anyone who has parents, children, dreams, or a past will find something of value in Don Bailey's collection of short stories entitled Bring Me Your Passion. Bailey has created a world of ordinary people involved in real situations who somehow become very special. Many of the stories deal with all sides of the parent-child experience, and for the most part. Bailey manages to present each side in a fresh and at times surprising light. Bailey treats these stories, which range from depressing to amusing, in a moving way. Not one of his dreamers or losers or winners or boozers is unlikable, since Bailey's writing style brings the reader close to these people. Bring Me Your Passion would work nicely in any Canadian literature course. The teachability of Don Bailey has been proven by "A Few Notes for Orpheus" (not in this collection). Students enjoying that story may wish to read more of Bailey's writing. Although many of the characters in Bring Me Your Passion, lack a degree of passion, the writing of these stories is quite passionate. For this reason, this collection is highly recommended as course material, as support material or simply as good literature from an unsung writer.
