The people who get him out want him to do a Simple Job for them. Naturally, the Job does not turn out to be at all simple. We find that Broken English involves an assassination plot and a plot to Intensify the conflict in Ireland. In the best Ludlum tradition, David Thompson has written a fast-paced, exciting and gripping spy thriller with enough twists to keep the story intriguing. Thompson has also given the reader an insight into the life of senseless deaths and senseless violence in war-torn Belfast. The book contains a glossary that explains some of the Irish words and references used in the story. I strongly recommend this book to readers of spy fiction. Nadiya Blaine, Ridgeway, Ont.
