Olly lives with David, Terry and Troy. The humans in the story might be parents and a child or three siblings. Their role is minimal. One day, Olly, who loves picnics, hides in the car when David. Terry and Troy are going on safari. At the entrance to the safari, Terry tells Olly that the safari is too dangerous for him, and a tall man locks him in a cage. Olly escapes from the cage and dashes through the entrance gate. A lion who has just had lunch, a giraffe and some zebras help Olly find his family. This is a ridiculous story. The illustrations in bright colours show cartoonlike animals. Children who are interested in animal safaris deserve a better story on this topic. Elizabeth Locke, Niagara Palls, Ont.
