Volume 16 Number 4
Edited by the poet Dale Zieroth, Event is a literary journal that embraces the work of writers, beginning and otherwise, from across the continent. The featured work of short fiction in this number is from the pen of a professor of literature at the University of Alabama, H.E. Francis. The pleasure of the journal for those interested in Canadian writing lies in the appearance of little-known writers who may be the pillars of the next generation's literature, such as the poets M.E. Csamer and Lyn King, and the story writer Michael McCann. Diana Kiesners of Toronto provides a particularly fluent and interesting fragment— a story set in the new Bohemia of Queen Street. The Journal also provides a review section on recent Canadian literary work, including, in this number, an interpretation of Michael Ondaatje'a novel In the Skin, of a. Lion* as mythic prose-poem.
