Most of this book deals with the special adaptations and habitats of the world's animals. Environments that range from desert to ocean, from the Arctic to equatorial Jungles arc colourfully depicted and described. Short descriptive paragraphs accompany most illustrations. The twenty-eight topics listed in the table of contents and the index should readily aid readers in finding the area of interest they are pursuing. This book would not be suitable for an in-depth study of any specific species, but is of great use to one who is trying to illustrate the traits that are common to animals that live in a particular habitat. From what I have seen of the "Windows on the World" series, I believe the set would be worth purchasing by librarians who have a juvenile clientele.
