Bobbie Kalman has done it again! Birds at My Feeder examines the birds that one might expect in one's backyard, especially in the winter when the birds visit a home-made feeder. Successful feeders and recommended foods are clearly listed and illustrated.

The language level is suitable for primary children, as is the conversational tone. In the wonderful illustrations by Glen Loates, the amazingly beautiful birds fairly leap from the pages. From a young researcher's point of view, the book is well laid out with a clear table of contents as well as an index and glossary.

An additional plus is the notes about the artist accompanying a photograph with his children and some preliminary sketches. This book will certainly inspire young readers to become bird watchers and bird appreciators for life - perhaps even to become nature artists.
