Roman roads, Viking ships, and trains and airplanes of yesterday are illustrated and explained. The discussion of travel today covers service stations, jets, present day water transportation, as well as city travel, arctic travel and lunar travel. A table of contents is included as well as a travel dictionary, which explains the meaning of sonic of the terms used. In addition, "Picture Talk," found at the end of each topic, asks questions about, the section. Students may have to consult other books in order to find the answers to some of these questions. Tile language, vocabulary and sentence structure are fairly simple, although younger children may at times need help reading. The illustrations will probably be of more interest to the students. How We Travel, printed on glossy paper, has large colourful illustrations that show people using the various forms of transportation.
