Although the authors' credentials are not stated, Golick and Greig must be educators or at least have consulted professional teachers in the preparation of this excellent resource. The teacher resource package bridges the gap that often exists between the theoretical or informational material available on a subject and the instructional resources and strategies that teachers require to implement or teach effectively the content material. AIDS: A Teacher Resource Package is the type of learning resource that is in great demand. The resource package, intended primarily for grades 6 to 12, contains comprehensive information on the topic of AIDS. The material is arranged under eight broad subtopics such as "The Biology of Aids," "Sex and Consequences." and "Aids, the Future and the World." Within each of these individual units are learning objectives, vocabulary, discussion and debate topics, and research topics. One of the most useful aspects of each lesson is the inclusion of a great variety of black-line masters. The clear print and spiral-bound format lend themselves to excellent reproduction on a photocopier. Answer keys are provided for all evaluation units included with each topic. Appendices include a glossary, a brief list of audiovisual resources, and names and addresses of AIDS committees, community groups, and advisory boards. An introduction to the package contains a scope and sequence of specific skills and a plan to integrate the program into the curriculum in a variety of subject areas including biology, social studies, and current events. This learning resource comes highly recommended for all those needing strategies to implement the teaching of the topic of AIDS in their school curricula.
