Children love them because they hit so close to home, and the original vibrant artwork by Michael Martchenko has wisely been retained. It complements the stories most effectively. This is the second series SVE has done of a Canadian children's writer (Robert Munsch was the first) and reflects Canada's growing reputation as a source of fine children's stories. Great for read-alongs. The manual offers teaching strategies as well as the complete text. Unfortunately, no information about the author and his inspiration for these stories is included.
