Volume 17 Number 4
In 1981 Lois Walker put out a delightful record with Herb Walker entitled Invite a Puppcorn to Christmas Dinner. On the sleeve of that album there were directions for making a puppet. In this book the author has created ten new characters made from recycled cardboard tubes, paper plates, newspapers and scraps of fabric. Her puppets have intriguing names such as Jeremiah Jug, Eddie Egg Carton and Betty Bottle. The book is well illustrated with line drawings and concludes with a section called "Planning and Hosting a Puppet Party." Any child or adult interested in puppetry in particular or crafts in general would enjoy trying Lois Walker's creative ideas. Joan M. Payzant, Dartmouth, N.S. |
