These two books share the same format: classic fairy-tales lavishly illustrated in detailed full-colour illustrations.

The illustrations remind one of porcelain or china painting. The full-page illustrations glow with colour and fine detail. There is a reason for that: Gerda Neubacher is an award-winning china painter. Her "Frog King" won the Plate of the Year award in 1982 from the Canadian Association of Limited Edition dealers.

Her colourful illustrations bring a new, fresh approach to the retold beloved classics, "The Frog Prince" and "Sleeping Beauty." Rose buds on branches intertwine from page to page and are finally shown blooming when the handsome prince wakes the princess with a kiss. The book cover depicting the princess and the frog sitting by the well is particularly well done.

The books are well bound and modestly priced. Highly recommended as illustrated classics.
