Volume 18 Number 4 1990 July On a day when there is nothing to do, three children follow their mother's good advice and "think of something." An enthusiastic Ma is subsequently drawn into their adventure as the children dream up a ferocious turtle and a hungry mouse, who eats their snack so that Ma has to provide a new one. Ohi's exuberant watercolours capture the children in constant activity. With bustling skirts and tousled hair, Ma is pictured blasting at wild pigs with a trumpet and battling snakes with a sieve. Readers will find particular enjoyment in seeing the animals disappear from view before Ma catches a glimpse of them. A warm and satisfying portrayal of family life.
