ANNIRANNI AND MOLLYMISHI: THE WILD-HAIRED DOLL
C. Drew Lamm
Illustrated by Ruth Ohi
Volume 19 Number 1
In a vaguely Victorian setting, a young girl named Anniranni takes her doll Mollymishi for a ride in a "wee red wagon." When Anniranni starts to talk to a group of children, she forgets the wagon, which rolls away down a steep hill. The doll has a wild ride down the street and into a strange yard where a mischievous boy ties her hand to the leash of a huge dog. Her adventure finally leads her back to the red wagon and to Anniranni, who takes her back to the safety of home. The story is slight and quite predictable but the illustrations are attractive, and young children will probably enjoy hearing another version of the journey into danger which ends in comforting reunion with a parent figure.
