WHEELS
Susin Neilsen.
Volume 19 Number 2
If one has not watched the Degrassi Street television series, this book would still be read with interest. Wheels is a good story, short and easy to read, and it is about how one teenager coped, or didn't cope, with the death of his parents. However, it seemed flat or disappointing when compared to the TV series. Usually the book is better than the movie. Books seem to be more indepth, more revealing or enlightening, but Wheels covers almost verbatim the television shows that deal with the Wheels character. This is not to say Wheels is not a good book, but the "movie" came first. How much interest will there be for a print re-run, especially when the trials and tribulations of Wheels are still being worked out on TV, leaving the book way behind? Still worthwhile purchasing where the Degrassi books are in demand.
