Armed with his "cat detector," he tracks the cat from a run-down home to a museum, but the cat keeps slipping away. Finally, in a rather eerie moment, Cosimo returns to the museum, where he is found in the Egyptian gallery sharing a pedestal with a 2500-year-old stone cat. They look almost identical, Cosimo with his "cobalt blue" eyes, the stone cat with his "seaweed green" eyes. Rowan sadly returns the cat to his owner, but he is pleasantly surprised by a gift of a kitten with one eye "cobalt blue" and one "seaweed green." The cat's eye colour serves as an interesting refrain from the start of the story: "Cobalt blue... a deep, deep blue, ocean blue, summer sky blue." This is an attractively designed book that succeeds as a simple urban adven�ture, but the text is lengthy and overwritten ("A slate shingle slid clattering off the roof and landed with a muffled thud in the mud").
