The project looked at environmental education in Quebec in light of the report of the Brundtland Commission on the environment and produced this guide to create change and to encourage greater environmental activism. The audience for the package is broad: primary, secondary, post-secondary and adult. The introductory material contains statements of support from various interested parties. The main body of the work contains a series of worksheets that lay out objectives and provide information and activities, plus evaluation materials. The unit on water, for example, lists objectives, looks at the current reality and ways of changing it, and has activities for various levels, diagrams showing the water cycle, and charts showing water usage in the average home. There are five appendices that look at the state of the environment in Quebec and in the world and include bibliographic material and a list of relevant organizations. The work is well organized and attractively laid out. Recommended for Immersion and francophone schools. Adele Ashby, Toronto, Ont. |
