Following last year's My Mother's Loves, Stephane Poulin has created another fanciful story described by the author as "stories and lies from my childhood." Travels for Two is a quick-paced tale that includes all the elements of a great adventure story. After winning a vacation for two to cruise the tropics, our narrator and his family find themselves parachuting from an airplane, marooned on a desert island, captured by pirates, and, finally, rescued on the high sea. The humour of the story is infectious, and is carried through in the illustrations. The jubilant children, the harried mother and the wickedly funny pirates all contribute to the sense of fun and adventure. Highly recommended for adventurous spirits.
