Volume 20 Number 2
Canada under Siege is the fourth book in Pierre Berton's new series "Adventures in Canadian History." This particular volume introduces junior high students to the 1813 battles of the War of 1812. Each chapter, about ten pages, presents a lively re-enactment of American attacks on Canada - the battle of York, Beaver Dams, Fort George, Stoney Creek, etc. - during the spring and summer of 1813. Readable and interesting facts, well presented, although some of the battle scenes leave the reader somewhat confused as to which side was which. Illustrated. Useful index. Donna J.
